Disable Aero Shake

The Aero interface in some versions of Windows has a feature called Shake that minimizes all windows except the active one. Moving a window quickly can accidentally trigger the feature. This tip explains how to disable Shake and prevent the unwanted and annoying minimization of all your windows.

1) Create a file named noshake.reg with the following content:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer]
"NoWindowMinimizingShortcuts"=dword:00000001

2) Double-click the file in Windows explorer to import the registry key in the file.

3) Sign out of your Windows account and log back in. A system restart should not be necessary.

Disclaimer: Modifying your registry can cause unexpected and bad things to happen if you're not careful. Use this tip at your own risk.
