Syntastic VIM
Install the Syntastic VIM plugin and have VIM show you errors and typos in your code. This has saved me on numerous occasions in the last few weeks of usage.
Look at the README for instructions on how to ensure you have the proper processing tools installed for your language(s) of choice.
