iTerm2 quick full screen

Go to: iTerm2 > Preferences > General
On the right side of the panel you can make that go away by unchecking "Use Lion-style Fullscreen windows

If I do that, then the full screen window is shown on top of my desktop, and now I can't access my desktop unless I hide iTem2 with Cmd+H, which is annoying. Or perhaps I'm missing something;
