Show EVERYTHING in OS X Finder
OS X thinks you don't want to see dotfiles and the like in your Finder windows. Balderdash! In a Terminal window, enter:
defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES
and restart Finder by Option-rightclicking on the Finder icon on the Dock and selecting "Relaunch" to amend this oversight.
