I am an open source developer specializing in Ruby, but I'm also comfortable with Javascript and I've been slinging HTML and CSS for more than a decade. While I know my way around a Rails app, my knowledge of Ruby, my experience with other languages and my understanding of computing history have prepared me to learn whatever framework suits the job at hand. The command line is my second home. I learned it by diving headfirst into Slackware Linux back in 1993/94. I'm fascinated by object oriented architecture, and I love to read about other programming paradigms. I edit text with Vim in the terminal.
For the last decade I've worked as an information access and privacy analyst in the public sector. Before that, I organized marketing events and worked in film and video post production in Toronto and Vancouver. I have an MFA in screenwriting and a BA in film production. In a nutshell, I understand people and communicate well.
