You can skip the generation step altogether if you use Jekyll. This is what I do; I hate having my generated markup under source control.

I'd advise against installing XCode (unless you're doing Cocoa dev of course). You can get the command line tools separately from Apple here (requires login): https://developer.apple.com/downloads/index.action
