Seems like maybe you are doing very simplistic things with your web-coding. I also have no CS degree, and have been developing web applications and ecosystems for over 10 years. You don't use classic CS algorithms or design patterns or consider data structures or anything of that sort? If the answer is still no, then I wonder what it is you are doing, and on what scale your web applications are (or are they just marketing sites for that matter?) Coding like this has several names, but it's generally frowned upon by engineers (wild wild west anyone?)

As for making to much, you are just wrong here, sorry. The level of problem solving and understanding of different disparate technologies is what makes us engineers. If you are simply leveraging libraries to sell someones awesome face cream, then you are a developer and probably not engineering a damned thing.
