The Agile Manager

Perhaps the most important role of all in Agile environment is that if the MANAGER!

While their role evolves in an Agile work setting, they remain critically important. They support & enable the team, remove impediments and make their experience readily available to all who need it.

Managers replace the time they previously spent “supervising” (assigning tasks, getting status reports and other micro-management) with time being a “guru” (mentoring, coaching and guiding the development of team members).

In making this shift, managers need to evolve their own style of management. For example, using open questions to help the team discover a solution to a problem instead of simply deciding on a solution and assigning it to the team.
