TextMate 2: Set a tab size and soft tabs by default
At Identified, we use a tab size of 2 and soft tabs. It was pretty easy to tell TextMate to use this behavior but since I switched to TextMate 2, I couldn’t find a better way than telling TextMate my preferences for each files I opened (which is not very convenient).
Fortunately, after some queries on Google, I found the solution to my problem.
To set a tab size by default, go to TextMate 2’s preferences > Variables and add a new variable “tabSize” with the size as the value (in my case, 2).
To set soft tabs by default, add the variable “softTabs” and set it to ‘true’.

Nice! I think you still have to restart the app, but works great.
