Insert Common Technical Symbols on Mac
With Mac's Character Viewer, it's easy to insert common technical symbols into most any document or application.
- from the Keyboard Preferences pane, enable "Show Keyboard & Character viewers in menu bar"
- show the Character Viewer from the menu bar icon
- 
for each symbol below - search for the Hex code
- select the character
- from the right pane, click add to favorites
 ⌘ – ⌘– the Command Key symbol⌥ – ⌥– the Option Key symbol⇧ – ⇧– the Shift Key symbol⎋ – ⎋– the ESC Key symbol⇪ – ⇪– the Capslock symbol⏎ – ⏎– the Return symbol⌫ – ⌫– the Delete / Backspace symbol
Now, to insert any of these
- open the Character Viewer from the menu bar
- go to your Favorites
- double click the character (it will show up in your current document/application)
