Dead-simple (Office Monitor) Dashboard
We had been discussing throwing up a dashboard on the large unused television in the office.
We've opted for a dead-simple solution which "just works". We run Google Chrome in Presentation Mode (Ctrl+Shift+F) and use an Add-on called TabCarousel available from the Chrome Web Store.
TabCarousel, when activated, switches between the open tabs in Chrome. By default, each tab is displayed for 15 seconds and each tab is refreshed in 5 minute intervals. Each of these settings are easily configurable.
Items we are currently displaying:
- Real-time Google Analytics
- A Twitter visualization (VisibleTweets or TweetBeam).
- NewRelic dashboard
Any information which can be viewed in a browser can now be displayed on our dashboard.
Note: Beware of Vanity Metrics, make the things you watch actionable metrics.
