Thanks for sharing. though, my 8g mbp reports:
PhysMem: 8113M used (1190M wired), 77M unused.
Shouldn't it report 8113M wired ?

No, it's normal.
You should read this article : http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201538 for more informations about the different kind of memory displayed using top or the activity monitor.
There is always new things to learn. ;)
