The right approach to CPAN.

Often as a programmer wishing to contribute to CPAN, you'll encounter an overwhelming burden of drama. A lot of good code is lost to this unofficial gatekeeper of the archive. Before it dissuades you from contributing a patch, consider forking.

Your first goal as a programmer should always be to add to the public corpus of good code. Your last concern should be for the social ramifications of forking.
