Disabling SELinux for httpd (fanfic)

Look yonder! Up upon that hill! Why.... is that fair maiden httpd being molested by that evil dragon SELinux?!

We must defend her, knights! SELinux is strong and powerful and casts a witches spell of confusion, so we must have our wits about us.

No, young page -- chmod and chown will not help you allow fair maiden httpd to write to directories! Yes, I know the processes are crashing because of these write errors -- we must vanquish the beast once and for all!

(beat)

semanage permissive -a httpd_t

Do you hear that scream? That wonderful, yet blood curling scream of SELinux loosening its iron grip over the kernel? var/log/messages tells me that fair maiden httpd is free from its torment, and SELinux has retreated back to a cave somewhere.

(later)

Fair maiden, come back! Of course I didn't mean it when I said nginx had a better cache. Yours is just fine.
