Is it necessary to develop BSD-Licensed Git?

Git is one of the most marvellous SCM software in ever I've used. I want to come to be that more people use the Git but there is an anxiety about its license.

Some people don't like GPL software. Some people prefer BSD-License rather than GPL.

Of course I know a merit and its philosophy of GPL and I'm not an evangelist of neither GPL nor BSD-License.

However, there are many reasons why people choose the softwares by their license. I think that FREE is included choosing the best license to people who use the software.

Thus I have an question.
Is it necessary to develop BSD-Licensed Git like OpenCVS?
