Stop social network killing your productivity

When you're coding, it's matter of time until you find yourself waiting for a long script execution, compiling or whatever and you will instinctively open your favourite social network or procrastination website and start reading disturbing stuff until you have absolutely lost your focus on the task you were doing.

What I have done is to add following lines to my /etc/hosts to avoid myself entering these sites while my brain is in autopilot.

127.0.0.1 www.facebook.com
127.0.0.1 myfavouritenewswebsite.com
127.0.0.1 myfavouriteblogs.com
127.0.0.1 some-host-your-im-uses.com

It's important to do this manually, without creating any script or tool, as sudoing a vi editor to uncomment these lines when you want to visit any of them is an enough complex task to require your conscience to be involved, so you're on time to stop yourself before it's too late.

I can't believe how productive I've become since I started doing this.

BONUS: Remove from your sight and ears any social network, email or phone notifications for maximum productivity
