Free GPL vector icons fonts from Automattic

"Genericons" have been offered by Automattic, who most know as the people behind WordPress. They're free, GPL, and vector. And although they have a lot of the usual suspects in the current collection of a little over 50, there are some others that are pretty stylin'.

If you aren't familiar with using icon fonts, you should look into it because they're great. Lightweight, scalable without problems, you can add gradients and colors to them, animate them...the list goes on.

Anyway, here's the link to Genericons from Automattic: http://genericons.com/

How does gpl apply to icon font? Would I have to release the source code of my application if it uses these icons? Doesn't sound intuitive...

The promise of GPL for fonts is a little hokey, since it's not actually software. However, I'm going to read that as the GPL ensuring that it's completely free to use, copy, share, modify, or do whatever you'd like with it.
