Focus. Use 'Do not disturb' in iOS6.
As developers, we need quality dev time. One of my favorite features in iOS6 allows me to prevent all notifications from lighting up my iPhone and buzzing on my desk. It's called 'Do not disturb', it's in the Settings app, and you should use it to block everything out.
After your dev time all of your notifications will be there on your iPhone, but they won't have distracted you from your work.
You can also configure it to accept phone calls or messages from specific people.
