Use a gaming mouse for programming!

As programmers, we use key-shortcuts for copy-pasting and other stuff a lot. If you're like me, you use your left hand to e.g.

  • copy: ctrl-c
  • cut: ctrl-x
  • paste: ctrl-v
  • select all: ctrl-a

Being a guitar player, I once had a repetitive strain injury which made me notice how unergonomic these key combinations are when executed with one hand.

Therefore, I bought myself an affordable gaming mouse with 10 programmable buttons. I assigned the above (and other) key combinations to specific mouse buttons. This is so convenient and fast that I still use it even if the pain has been gone for a long time.
