Check what happens in your file system
Maybe you need to know what exactly an app does on your file system? Maybe you need to know where exactly an app stores its data, or where exactly it saves its preferences?
Install fseventer, a free app you can download here:
http://www.fernlightning.com/doku.php?id=software:fseventer:start
fseventer shows you in a graphical way what every process is doing on the file system. you just have to run the app and start recording, the file system events are shown in a tree, and to see what application has performed every operation, you just have to hover the mouse for a sec.
