You can also type :sh to obtain a full shell. When you've done type exit (or Ctrl+d) to come back in vim

For a quick Markdown rendering, I use a Finder extension in order to make Finder QuickLook able to render markdown. I wrote an article about that, you can find here http://matteocappadonna.org/time-to-try-markdown
