Thanks! I have only tried this with team and publishing templates, not with blog site. Not sure what you mean by "failure event handler", but it doesn't seem like the ReputationModel can find your list. Remember, you need to use the List GUID, not the List name, as argument to setLike.
Above, I've used the _spPageContext object to get the List GUID dynamically for the current article.
