Install the latest Intel graphics card drivers on Ubuntu or Mint

The tool aims to simplify both installation and updating of drivers for Intel’s graphics cards so that users are able to get the best performance out of their hardware and stay "up-to-date with the latest Intel Graphics Stack for Linux".

The intell download center lead us to its open source thechnology center. There, you must download the deb for your Ubuntu version (64 or 32 bits).

These steps were done for Ubuntu 14.04 and Linux Mint 17.

If you are using Linux Mint change the file /etc/lsb-release to be like this:

DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=14.04
DISTRIB_CODENAME=trusty
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Linux Mint 17 Qiana"

After install the package, open it searching for "intel" on apps search and begin the drivers update/install.

If you are using Linux Mint change again the file /etc/lsb-release to be like this:

DISTRIB_ID=LinuxMint
DISTRIB_RELEASE=17
DISTRIB_CODENAME=qiana
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Linux Mint 17 Qiana"

If you want to update again, just repeat the steps.

Just a reminder for myself: if running CS Source or GO on steam for Linux, remember to install libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0:i386 packatge, which is needed for source games when used with mesa, but does not cause a fatal crash if missing.

sudo apt-get install libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0:i386

That's it!

The Intel drivers for Ubuntu 14.04 do not support trusty anymore so this will not work.
